The Therapies that I use
I am qualified and experienced in a variety of therapy techniques, all of which are the most effective researched based therapies to date. They are all client led and solution focused. This way you can feel empowered that the changes you will experience come from within you and not because of something I do to you. Together we focus on where you are currently and move you forwards in the most helpful way.
The therapies I use are the most well researched and up to date to help facilitate the most effective change for you and as quickly as possible. People generally find they work much faster than traditional talk-based therapies. I enjoy constantly updating my skills to keep up with professional requirements and for the absolute love of what I do.
I use a combination of Hypnotherapy; EMDR; NLP and CBT.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that makes use of a state of mind where there is focused attention. This state of mind we call hypnosis (or trance) is a very normal state we go in and out of naturally every day. Very simply when we are daydreaming, reading a book or looking at our mobiles phones we are in this state of trance without even realising. For the experience of therapy most people enjoy and appreciate being guided into a relaxed state to create and make use of this altered state where neuroplasticity is said to be created. We say that hypnotherapy creates a handshake between the conscious you (the part that knows what it wants and needs) and the subconscious (the biggest part of our mind that runs all the automatic processes (including our thoughts).
What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.
It’s a type of therapy used to help people heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. The elements of EMDR are somewhat similar to hypnotherapy but the process differs with the purposeful use of eye movement. This eye movement helps your brain process and make sense of the memory, reducing its emotional impact. EMDR helps your brain sort through the distressing memories, so they don't bother you as much.
What is NLP?
What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a technique that focuses on how our thoughts, language, and behaviours are all connected. As we are all unique individuals this differs from person to person. With awareness of these elements comes the ability to reshape how someone thinks, feels & therefore experiences their world.
- Neuro: This part looks at how our brain works and how we think.
- Linguistic: This part deals with how we use language and how it affects us.
- Programming: This part is about changing our thoughts, habits and behaviours to achieve what someone is needing.

What is CBT?
CBT stands for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and is a type of talk therapy that helps people manage their problems by changing the way they think and behave. You can think of it like being a detective and finding out why you feel and act a certain way, and then making positive changes to improve your mood and behaviour. Through talking we explore and discover unhelpful thoughts and challenge them in the most useful and constructive way.
Why would you consider hypnotherapy?
You would consider Hypnotherapy an option for any other reason you may see a counsellor or other mental health practitioner. I have often noticed hypnotherapy can be most helpful to allow someone to have that “aha” moment when other forms of therapy have not quite got them to where they are wanting to be. Hypnotherapy can help people to just feel differently as it involves direct communication with the unconscious (also called the subconscious) mind.
The issues that can be helped with hypnotherapy are many whether they be emotional or physical. The following list includes examples of commonly treated concerns, but the application is not limited.
- ANXIETY & PHOBIA’S
- DEPRESSION
- INSOMNIA
- TRAUMA
- WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
- HABIT CHANGING
- SELF-ESTEEM
- CONFIDENCE FOR BIRTH & PARENTING
- PAIN
- PRE & POST MEDICAL OR SURGICAL CARE
- LIFE TRANSITIONS
Can anyone experience hypnosis?
As hypnosis is a very normal and natural state we go in and out of during the day then absolutely, it's already happening to you as you read this 😉. When we work together it is a collaborative relationship and certainly not one where I might get you to cluck like a chicken! We can save that for the stage shows. Nor will it be a situation in which you are not totally in control. There are however some more complex mental health issues that not suitable to be treated using deep trance.
Client Testimonial
PTSD, Anxiety & Depression
"Hypnotherapy was something that has always been of interest to me, but finding the right person was the big hurdle. I am an emergency services worker and I've been experiencing periods of heavy depression for most of my life, but always managed to suppress it by introducing coping mechanisms such as heavy physical exercise or just quietly suffering in silence.
Over the last couple of years, I have been unlucky enough to have had some potentially serious health issues which has pushed me into a world of high anxiety and depression, which later was diagnosed as part of PTSD. This resulted in turning my world upside down and I have sort help from many modalities, both conventional and alternative, with mixed results over a period of years.
I came across Louise by chance and I wish our paths had crossed many years earlier. Louise is very easy going and her style of introducing you to hypnotherapy, is one that is presented with both empathy and detail. Her clinical background provides her with an understanding of the medical side of things and its pitfalls, this being very evident when discussing any medical issues that may be affecting a client.
Louise has helped me enormously since we began, and I would thoroughly recommend her as she is very skilled at moulding the hypnotherapy she delivers to you to suit your specific problem or concern.
I have been working with Louise now for several months and I am making solid gains, so if you are considering making an appointment don't delay because the hypnotherapy experience is one you will enjoy and I have no doubt will bring positive results."
